Charity’s Accountant Stole £2.5m

BBC News reports that a charity’s accountant has been jailed for stealing more than £2.5m from his employer, Morris Cerullo World Evangelism.

Stephen Ashton falsified invoices and accounts and used the money he stole to pay for his lover’s mortgage and luxury holidays.

Ashton had worked for the charity for 16 years and – amazingly – had been jailed previously in 1992 for theft and false accounting.
