According to The Leader, a couple sold bathrobes, linen and spa products worth around £10,000 that had been stolen from the luxury hotel where they both worked.

Gabriel Lichacy stole the items from the Carden Park Hotel, near Chester and then sold them through the eBay account of his then partner, Sarah Barwise.

An unrelated incident led police to Lichacy’s home where they discovered numerous boxes of bathrobes, linen, towels, table cloths and a “significant quantity” of spa products.

Colleagues reported that Barwise had been “behaving oddly” at the time and senior managers interviewed her on two occasions after starting their own investigation.
