According to The Mirror, Sainsbury’s will soon be watching shoppers’ every move after installing extra CCTV at their self-service checkouts.

The supermarket – fed up with people slipping extra items into their bags – has fitted CCTV cameras and mirrors above the self-checkout tills in a new security scheme.

Fraudster Stole To Fund Lavish Lifestyle

The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that a fraudster stole £216,000 from a Leeds-based Christian charity to fund a lavish lifestyle.

Lee Patterson covered his tracks by creating false business accounts and diverted funds into his own bank accounts which he used to build an extension on his home and buy a car for his son.

Shop Worker Stole Perfume Worth £15k

According to Chronicle Live, a John Lewis worker stole thousands of pound worth of fragrances and then sold them on her eBay account.

Sophie Easten helped herself to expensive aftershaves and perfumes worth a total of £14,428 over an 11-month period and was only caught when bosses installed CCTV in the stock room.

Locksmith’s Massive £600k NHS Fraud

As reported on the BBC News website, the chief locksmith at a major London hospital has been jailed for defrauding the NHS out of £600,000.

Andrew Taylor used his position at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust to purchase locksmith materials from his own firm at up to 1,200% over market rates.

Couple Sold Stolen Hotel Linen On eBay

According to The Leader, a couple sold bathrobes, linen and spa products worth around £10,000 that had been stolen from the luxury hotel where they both worked.

Gabriel Lichacy stole the items from the Carden Park Hotel, near Chester and then sold them through the eBay account of his then partner, Sarah Barwise.

‘Remorseful’ Thief Returns Stolen Bag

As reported in the Daily Star, a serial thief who regretted pilfering a posh handbag dropped it off at her local police station, accompanied by a handwritten note of apology.

Holly Finch – who suffers from kleptomania – went on a stealing spree in the Metrocentre, Newcastle, late in 2017 and her haul included a £295 Michael Kors bag.
