The Hartlepool Mail reports that a fraudster who cheated his employer out of £40,000 to fund his drug addiction has been jailed.

John Simpson was employed as a parts coordinator by Brooktherm Refrigeration in Birkenhead, Wirral.

Simpson worked with Gary Dangerfield – MD of a Birmingham-based compressor firm which supplied Brooktherm – who raised inflated, duplicated or false invoices for Simpson to authorise.

Once payment was received from Brooktherm, Dangerfield would keep a 20% cut of the money before giving the rest to Simpson.
