A branch of the Co-op has removed high value cuts of meat from it shelves to deter shoplifters from stealing the merchandise, according to Wales Online.

The store in the centre of Penarth has removed joints and steaks from its displays and customers now have to ask staff members for them specifically.

A member of South Wales Police said, “We have advised store managers that it would be sensible to display expensive meat produce further inside their premises and away from shop entrances and exits. Since this advice was given, we have noticed a considerable decrease in shoplifting of this nature in the town centre.”
