£100k Theft Forced Firm To Go Bust

As reported on Mail Online, an employee took so much money from her employer that the firm went bust and six workers – including her brother – lost their jobs.

Natalie Akinola accessed the company’s system to take cash during a sunshine holiday to Ibiza and even stole wedding gift money which was meant to help pay staff wages.

Russell Blackburn – the owner of ESS Birmingham – was left with a £30,000 debt when the firm crashed, a court heard.

Akinola was responsible for the daily running of the ESS office as well as its accounts and payments to suppliers. An investigator hired by Mr Blackburn to look into the firm’s money troubles found cash was being funelled into an account linked to Akinola.
