Kent Online reports that more than £50,000 of goods were stolen from shops in Maidstone town centre over two years.

Between December 2013 and November 2015, items worth £55,299.39 were shoplifted from some of the town’s main shopping areas.

Whilst the figures show that the value of goods taken has dropped by more than £3,000 in a year, Inspector Jody Gagan-Cook of the Maidstone Community Safety Unit stated that, ” it is important to remember shoplifting affects businesses in different ways and can sometimes be the difference between prosperity and financial ruin.”
