Bookies Clerk Staged Fake Hold-Up

The Express reports that a father and daughter staged a faked robbery at a bookmakers in a plot to steal £3,500.

Chevvine Darling worked as a cashier at a branch of Ladbrokes when her father, John White, allegedly walked in wearing a black cap and a green scarf over his face.

He then passed his daughter a demand note that warned: “Put money in bag. No tricks. No buzzers,” a jury was told.

As he left the shop, White warned Miss Johnson: “Do what I say. Don’t use any alarms.” White was caught six months after the “heist” and, at the time, detectives were unaware of the family connection.
