Cook Stole School Dinner Money

Wales Online reports that a school cook stole nearly £6,000 of pupils’ dinner money to pay off her debts.

Joanne Helsby had debts of nearly £30,000  and “pocketed” the cash pupils paid for school meals instead of paying it into the bank account of her employer, catering company Chartwells.

A court was told that she stole a total of £5,840 between October 2014 and May 2015 – representing a third of the company’s profit.
