The Liverpool Echo reports that when a fraudster stole nearly £73,000 from his employer, his boss ended up losing his job.

David Peter James abused his position as Finance Manager to steal cash from the Japanese-owned Exedy Clutch Europe in Runcorn.

James ‘double-invoiced’ payments for suppliers, first paying into a genuine client account and then paying a duplicate invoice, siphoning off thousands of pounds at a time into two HSBC and Santander accounts that belonged to himself.

Due to the fraud the company’s chief executive lost his job even though he did nothing wrong.
