The Northampton Chronicle & Echo website reports that a former manager at a Northampton electrical wholesaler stole goods worth around £10,000 from his employer over the course of a year.

Ian Jones told a court that gambling debts, incurred as a result of mental health struggles from the stress of caring for his sick mother, were a driving factor in the thefts.

After being given a two-year suspended sentence, Jones said, “It’s been a real wake-up call for me. I just want to put things right and to live my life as I did previously.”
