Manager’s ‘Industrial Scale’ Scam

The Liverpool Echo website reports that an office manager at a tech company in Warrington stole £228,000-worth of postage stamps and printer cartridges, in what was described as an ‘industrial scale’ scam.

Karen Belton used her employer’s business accounts to over-order huge quantities of both items – then took them home before selling them on eBay after setting up an account under the name Merlin.

Courts have now ordered her to compensate the company based on her available assets – the equity in her home – meaning she will either have to sell the house or find the money elsewhere.
