Manager ‘Almost Ruined Employer’

Gazette Live reports that a former office manager almost ruined her employer by embezzling £48,000 in bank transfers and cash, slipping brown envelopes into her desk drawer over a two-year period.

Nicola Leadstone pocketed about £500 a week belonging to a small Middlesbrough family company, Heatpac, almost sending it into liquidation.

She spent the stolen money on a car, two holidays, a sofa, and paying off debt, while the firm struggled to stay afloat, laying off 11 people and losing more than 100 years’ experience in the process.
