Pensioners Pinch £6k Worth Of Magazines

Saturday, 4th June 2016 at 4:16pm

The Telegraph carries a story of pensioners stealing £6,000 worth of magazines in year from a branch of high street chain WH Smith in Stirling.

It is reported that female thieves have been spotted on CCTV pinching magazines such as Take a Break, Chat and That’s Life, with men in their 60s and 70s being caught trying to conceal fly-fishing magazines and wrestling publications.

Police Scotland said, “we will be charging an elderly woman in connection with eight separate incidents of shoplifting at the store, which were carried out between January and May this year.

“She has now been banned from entering the premises. There really is no such thing as a ‘typical’ shoplifter. They come from all walks and backgrounds.”
