Rail Workers Sold Stolen Tools Online
Thursday, 4th February 2016 at 9:32pmAccording to the Bath Echo, two Network Rail workers who admitted conspiring to steal more than £14k worth of company property to sell on eBay, have avoided jail.
A scam by Mathew Hirst and David Williams was unravelled last year when it was discovered that two nail guns stolen from a Network Rail depot were spotted for sale on eBay, along with numerous other items belonging to the company.
But it was the image of Hirst’s face in a reflection of a picture of a mobile phone the same seller had posted that convinced them of his involvement, along with pictures taken in what they recognised as Hirst’s garden.
