Thieves Swapped iPhones For Fakes

As reported in The Mail (formerly the North-West Evening Mail), a gang of three men distracted staff at a Carphone Warehouse store, removing security devices fitted to Apple iPhones and swapped them with dummy phones.

Carlisle Crown Court was told that the gang then repeated the crime at a Vodafone store in the same shopping centre on the same day.

A spokesman for Kendal Police said: “This was a sophisticated incidence of shoplifting and it is believed that these three were responsible for similar crimes around the country.”
