The Boston Standard reports that a man who owed money to loan sharks stole more than £3,000 from his employer and faked a robbery to cover what he had done.

Steve Beeson, who ran New Horizon Amusements, claimed that the shop had been robbed of £3,100 and acid had been thrown in his face as he opened up.

There was a bleach bottle on the floor but officers found internal CCTV footage that showed Beeson pouring fake acid over his own face, which Beeson was unable to explain.

Beeson admitted to being ‘heavily in debt’ and had been told to stage the robbery to get the funds to pay back a number of Payday loans.
