Stolen Sea Cadets Kit Sold Online

A sea cadets volunteer in Northumberland stole a number of kayaks, sails, wetsuits and musical instruments from the organisation and sold them on eBay.

Paul Erskine had got into financial difficulties, and went to steal items worth over £3,000 from the cadets and a neighbouring sports club, which he listed on the online auction site to raise money.

The Bury Free Press reports that a Halfords employee stole more than £2,300 from his employer by copying customer receipts and paying refunds into his own bank account.

Liam Crook of Bury St Edmunds, pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position at Bury Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

As reported in Metro, a jailed personal assistant who stole thousands from her employer to fund her £1,000-a-day gambling habit has been ordered to repay the money.

Elizabeth Fawcett was jailed for helping herself to more than £40,000 using her company American Express card – issued to her by Cassidian UK, part of Airbus – her employer at the time.

Maciej Rodziewicz was rumbled when an eBay customer bought nicotine patches that were marked ‘Property of Bristol Royal Infirmary’.

The Evening Standard reported that a drugs company boss who submitted bogus invoices for pharmaceuticals to HSBC – totalling £3.1 million – is facing jail.

Baljit Brad used his Enfield-based firm Lister Pharmaceuticals to set up a “factoring” deal with the bank for the sale of large batches of medication.

Fish Market Manager Stole £84k

The Evening Standard reported on a case where a manager from Billingsgate fish market stole more than £84,000 from traders’ rents to feed his gambling addiction.

Roshan Persad took the money from the market’s landlord over an 18-month period and then tried to blame security firm G4S for losing the missing cash.
