Retailers Urge Police Action On Theft

According to the Bloomberg UK website, retailers including Tesco and Sainsbury’s are calling on British police to focus on retail crime as the cost of living crisis is leading to an increase in shoplifting and other offences.

The appeal comes as the surging cost of energy, fuel and food leads to more reports of abuse and theft in UK stores.

Fake Car Badges Netted £500k

The Lancashire Telegraph website reports that a man who raked in thousands of pounds selling counterfeit car badges has been ordered to repay more than £500,000.

Following a complaint from Jaguar Land Rover, Matthew Paul Shlusar was found to have made illegal earnings from online sales of £554,913.

Worker Stole Pokeman Cards

The Daily Star website reports that a warehouse worker stole Pokemon cards valued at £60,000 from his employer, and stowed them in his mum’s house.

Kyriacos Christou took the cards when he picked up orders for an online business, which sells the Japanese trading cards for hundreds of pounds.

Vapes And Fake Bags Seized

The Kent Online website reports that more than 15,000 cigarettes, illegal vapes and counterfeit bags were among items seized by Trading Standards at stores across Maidstone town centre.

In a joint operation between council officers and police, dozens of plastic bags full of illegal goods were removed from four shops.

Worker Stole Viagra Worth £42k

The Cheshire Live website reports that a warehouse worker stole a pallet-load of Viagra, worth £42,000, from his workplace, Phoenix Medical Supplies.

Eugene O’Neill’s theft was reported by a work colleague and further analysis of CCTV footage revealed him loading the medication onto a van.
