The Leicester Mercury website reports that a serial shoplifter stole more than £500,000 in a crime spree that took her to towns and cities across the country.

Narinder Kaur operated on an ‘industrial scale’, with her scam seeing her trick retail staff into handing over refunds for items she had never even bought.

Kaur travelled all over the country, stealing items from high street stores and then claimed refunds on the items, sometimes on multiple occasions.

A court heard that over four years, she received more than £60,000 in refunds from Boots stores, despite only having spent just over £5,000 in the same period.
