Charity Fraudster Stole £145,000

As reported on the Civil Society News website, an employee of the charity Autism East Midlands stole £145k of the organisation’s funds to pay for lavish holidays, electricals and days out.

Dawn Franklin – jailed for three years and four months – concealed her crimes by making fake receipts, false invoices and overcharging local authorities to compensate for the money she had stolen.

In her role, she was entrusted to use credit and debit cards for official work but used them to pay for 14 holidays for family and friends.
