Gran Stole £180k Over Ten Years

The Wales Online website reports that a grandmother who worked for a building society for two decades stole more than £180,000 from her employer.

Claire Free – a business operations manager at Principality Building Society – fraudulently used nearly 150 cheques and transactions, and was caught after a customer complained that over £9,000 had been taken from his dead father’s account.

A court heard that ‘countless’ man hours were spent on the investigation into Free’s activities and the building society had to pay £24,000 for forensic accountants.
