‘Operation Hamper’ Halved Shoplifting

As reported on the Spire FM website, a police initiative called Operation Hamper saw incidents of shoplifting in Salisbury halve over the 2019 festive period.

Officers became more being visible throughout the day around the city and made better use of the ShopWatch and PubWatch radio systems, linking the city CCTV and police to shops and licensed premises.

With 53 reported incidents of shoplifting in Salisbury for the month to 21st November, there were just 27 for the rest of the month and December.
