Jail For Stealing £47k From Security Firm

As reported in the East Anglian Daily Times, a woman who siphoned off more than £47,000 from a security firm she worked at over a period of three years has been jailed.

Allison Thorogood, a payroll manager, had directly transferred around £17,000 to her own bank account and spent c.£30k on the company credit card on personal expenses, as well as withdrawing cash using the card.

‘Millionaire Shoplifter’ Threatens To Steal Again

Kim Farry, branded Britain’s most shameless shoplifter, has reportedly threatened to go back to her criminal ways just months after she offered to help stores stop theft, according to The Mirror.

The grandmother, 55, has admitted she isn’t content with her £15,000 yearly benefit money and warned if she doesn’t get a job soon she’ll go back to shoplifting.

Shoplifter Caught On Google Street View

The Telegraph reports that a shoplifter has been prosecuted for stealing £60 of washing-up goods – after she was caught fleeing a Savers store on Google Street View.

Whilst her face had been blurred out by Google, Cleveland Police identified Tammy McIvor from her distinctive white outfit, which she was wearing when she was arrested.

Jobseekers Getting Away With Exam Lies

As reported on the Recruiter website, almost 100,000 job applicants have lied about qualifications in the past three years and are getting away with it.

According to a new study from AXELOS – a joint venture between UK government and the business outsourcer Capita – many are getting away with falsifying their qualifications because almost half (48%) of UK-based HR professionals do not always check that applicants’ qualifications are valid.

Ex-Footballer Jailed For Shoplifting

The Lancashire Evening Post reports that an ex-professional footballer went on a £5,000 shoplifting spree to pay off his partner’s cocaine debt.

Kevin Magee – a team-mate of David Beckham in the ’90s – was jailed for six months after committing another five thefts from supermarkets on three separate dates.

Shoplifting Up 67% In St Albans

As reported in The Herts Advertiser, new statistics revealed by Hertforshire Police show that shoplifting is 67% up in comparison to the previous year.

Since April 1 2016 there have been 368 instances of shoplifting – with meat, alcohol and clothes making up most of the items stolen in the district.
