Jail For Shoplifting Alcoholic

According to the Lancashire Telegraph website, a shoplifter stole more than £1,000 worth of goods in a six-week spree, to fund his chronic alcohol addiction.

Joshua Thomas Whalley stole booze worth a total of £475 from Tesco, handbags worth £381 plus meat worth £396 from Marks & Spencer.

Prolific Thief Stole Leeds Football Shirts

The Yorkshire Evening Post website reports that a prolific thief has been jailed after he was caught stealing £660 worth of football shirts from a Leeds United shop.

Dilwyn Hoare – who has 76 previous convictions – took 15 adult shirts from a stand, rolled them up and placed them into a bag on the floor.

Thief Stole ‘To Impress Boyfriend’

The Liverpool Echo website reports that a woman stole hundreds of thousands of pounds from her employer in a “deluded” ploy to impress her boyfriend with a lavish lifestyle.

Stephanie Long stole just over £214,000 from B&M Waste Services over a four-year period, abusing her position as a purchasing and ledger manager.

Thief ‘Unable To Stop Himself’ In Asda

The Leicestershire Live website reports that a prolific thief with 148 previous convictions, was “unable to stop himself” shoplifting from an Asda superstore.

Lance Carroll attempted to steal a carrier bag full of razor blades and electric toothbrushes, taking them to the customer toilets to rip off the security tags.

Paramedic Stole Defibrillators

The BBC News website reports that a paramedic stole thousands of pounds worth of defibrillators from an ambulance service and sold them on eBay.

Scott Sutherland – jailed for three years – stole the equipment while working at North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) in 2017 and 2018 and returned to steal more in 2020.

Manager Stole £10k

The Northampton Chronicle & Echo website reports that a former manager at a Northampton electrical wholesaler stole goods worth around £10,000 from his employer over the course of a year.

Ian Jones told a court that gambling debts, incurred as a result of mental health struggles from the stress of caring for his sick mother, were a driving factor in the thefts.
