Shoplifter Steals To Get A ‘High’

The Leicestershire Live website reports that a serial shoplifter told a court she goes thieving because it gives her a ‘high’.

Danielle Hawthorne, who has 22 previous convictions, said that stealing also helps her deal with her anxiety and depression.

Payroll Thief Stole Over £500k

The Star website reports that a payroll administrator stole over half-a-million pounds from her architect employers over a seven-year period.

Jennifer Green was promoted with responsibility for the payroll in 2011 and 2012 and began linking payments from a related bank account to her own personal account.

The Birmingham Live website reports that a prolific thief has been banned from every M&S and Co-op shop in the UK along with 3,967 Tesco stores.

Alex Bingham – jailed for six months – will be banned from any retail premises in Gloucestershire expect for pharmacies and post offices.

Council Worker Stole £60,000

The Worksop Guardian website reports that a council’s finance officer stole more than £60,000 to help pay off her accumulated credit card debts.

Over a 12-month period, Kerry Wheatley diverted refunds of business rates, due to be paid to a number of businesses, into a single bank account.

Care Home Worker Stole £130,000

According to the carehome.co.uk website, a care home administrator stole £130,000 from her employers, including £7,100 from an 81-year-old resident.

Tammy Foster – jailed for just two years – paid herself higher wages and transferred £116,000 to her own account that she said had been owed to suppliers.

Prolific Thief Tried To Steal Alcohol

The Chronicle Live website reports that a prolific shoplifter was caught trying to steal more than £300-worth of alcohol from a Newcastle supermarket.

Lynn Wilson has 67 convictions for 155 previous offences, but that didn’t stop her attempting to stealing 11 bottles of spirits from Asda.
