Retail Crime ‘Out Of Control’
Friday, 31st January 2025 at 5:27pmThe BBC News website reports that retail crime is “out of control” and shoplifters are carrying out increasingly brazen and violent acts of theft.
In some cases, offenders are openly clearing complete shelves of items in full view of customers and shop workers – a tactic sometimes known as “kamikaze” shoplifting.
Helen Dickinson, the British Retail Consortium’s chief executive, said offenders are more daring because, “they don’t see that there’s necessarily any consequences”.
