Worker Stole £14k From BAME Charity

The Metro website reports that an office manager stole more than £14,000 from her employer to pay for IVF debts, council tax and fund her nephew at university.

Milanthi Welamedage was a trusted worker at Becon, a now defunct charity that helped black and ethnic minority communities.

An investigation into a number of suspicious transactions uncovered company cheques being issued and used to pay for council tax at Welamedge’s home.
