The BBC News website reports that a woman from County Tyrone has admitted stealing £2.3m from her former employer over an eight-year period.

The woman – who cannot be identified – pleaded guilty to 26 counts of criminality in what is thought to be Northern Ireland’s biggest single employee fraud case.

As reported on the Lancashire Telegraph website, a chef pocketed cash from a wedding reception budget, and then tried to blame the bride and groom.

Matthew Patterson-Farnworth was in charge of bookings, but when bosses looked for the proceeds of a reception party, he claimed he had been given a dud cheque.

According to the Halifax Courier website, a “greedy” mum-of-two has been jailed for 18 months for her role in a car parts scam which cost her employer more than £90,000.

The Manchester Evening News website reports that a finance director cost four employees their jobs after he stole £21,000 of company money to feed his secret heroin habit.

Richard Turner managed the finances at a plant machinery hire firm and was – ironically – tasked with improving security on payments to the company.
