Used Car Salesman Stole £30k

According to the Car Dealer Magazine website, a used car dealer has been jailed after stealing company funds in order to fund his ‘lavish lifestyle’.

Ceri Lewis – described as ‘thoroughly dishonest’ – pocketed almost £33,000 over a three-year period, despite a previous conviction for theft from a previous employer.

£500k Of Fake Goods Seized

The BBC News website reports that Trading Standards officers have seized counterfeit goods worth more than £500,000 from the iconic annual Appleby Horse Fair.

Items removed included 2,500 pairs of sunglasses and nearly 200 bottles of perfume with counterfeit Cartier, Fendi, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Dior trademarks.

Charity Worker Stole Over £40k

As reported on the Civil Society website, a former employee of Sense Scotland has pleaded guilty to stealing £40,060 from some of charity’s service users.

A court heard how Violet Connor admitted taking the money from some of the charity’s vulnerable residents during a period of over three years.

Team Leader Stole Nearly £25k

According to the Lincolnshire World website, a transport planning team leader stole more that £24,000 from his employer, but has been spared a jail term.

Tim Goodliff – given a 16-month sentence, suspended for two years – pleaded guilty of a charge of theft by an employee over a 12-month period.

Convicted Murderer Stole £17k

According to the BBC News website, a convicted murderer who was given a retail management role to assist her rehabilitation, stole £17,000 from the business.

Alison Ramsay was nearing the end of her sentence at a women’s prison when she was given a role at Shared Earth as part of an offender programme.

What’s Driving Shoplifting Epidemic?

The Guardian website has published an article that looks at the UK’s shoplifting epidemic and asks whether anything can be done to stop it.

The Co-op alone recorded 330,000 incidents of shoplifting, abuse, violence and antisocial behaviour in its 2,500+ stores across the UK in 2023.
