Trader Sold Fakes In Shop And Online

The Liverpool Echo website reports that a trader caught with fake designer goods and toys from Apple AirPods to Zepter knife sets has been fined nearly £4,000.

Trading Standards officers removed 186 high-value items and designer goods valued at more than £30,000 from Darren Spendlove over a six-month period.

Marker Traders Sold Fake Trainers

According to The Argus website, two brothers who ran market stalls in Rye have been convicted of breaching the Trade Marks Act after being caught selling counterfeit trainers.

Following a test purchase in October and a further visit in December 2021 more than 1,000 pairs of fake footwear were seized from stalls owned by Sukhdeav and Hardev Singh.

Fake Clothing Worth £6m Seized

The BBC News website reports that counterfeit clothing worth more than £6m has been seized by police following a series of raids in Manchester’s Cheetham Hill and Strangeways areas.

Greater Manchester Police said officers had closed down 18 shops over a two-week period.

Fake Candy Stores Cost Taxpayers £8m

According to the Evening Standard website, candy store operators on London’s Oxford Street have defied a council crackdown with the number of the ‘eyesores’ returning to record levels.

There are currently 29 US-style candy and souvenir outlets on Europe’s busiest shopping street and during one swoop £215,000 worth of fake goods were seized.

Etsy Now A ‘Major Counterfeiting Platform’

The Fashion United website reports that Etsy has been exposed as a platform where counterfeit goods are easily bought and sold.

A scathing report by Citron Research has accused Etsy’s management of knowingly or, at the very least, negligently, turning this company into the largest organized clearing house for counterfeit goods in the world.

£10 A Day For ‘Counterfeit Capital’ Workers

As seen on the ITV News website, the massive trade in the production and supply of fake designer brands has found criminal gangs using young migrants as illegal labour, paying them as little as £10 a day to be “spotters” – people who watch out for the police – or add labels to counterfeit goods.
