The News & Star gives details of a new study that shows many employers have turned away a candidate for a job after discovering dishonest or exaggerated information on a CV.

The survey of 2,000 people found that out of those who lied, 23% went on to bag the jobs they applied for and another 23% confessed they did it because they wanted a higher salary.

A story in the County Gazette gives details of a bogus vet who lied his way into a job at a Taunton practice and was employed there for almost two years before being discovered.

Patrick Keniry, who has several previous convictions for similar offences, admitted faking his CV to get work at Priory Veterinary Practice and even stole the name of a qualified vet to get the job.

CV Faker Has Jail Term Cut

The News & Star reports that a convicted fraudster who concocted a false CV to get a high-paid job has had his jail term slashed.

James Alexander Hayden Cox, also submitted faked references to land a £65,000-a-year role at Britain’s Energy Coast and forged a signature to steal more than £40,000 of the company’s cash.

Wales Worst For Interview Fibs

According to HR News, Welsh workers admitted they were the most likely in Britain to tell lies at a job interview.

The specially-commissioned research saw 21.7% of Welsh workers admitting they deliberately fibbed during an interview, closely followed by the Scots with 20.8%.
