Thief Took Taxi To Steal

According to the Chronicle Live website, a brazen thief hired a taxi to take him shoplifting as part of a thieving spree which has now seen him banned from the Silverlink Shopping Park in Tyneside.

Cocksure crook Dean Robinson covered security tags in tin foil to evade detection, but was eventually caught by detectives who linked him to a string of store thefts.

GP Manager Stole £600k

According to Yahoo! News, a former doctor’s practice manager has been jailed after defrauding the surgery she worked for of almost £600,000.

Carolyn Lightwing transferred £596,000 into personal bank accounts she had set up while falsely claiming to be a supplier to the surgery.

Manager’s ‘Industrial Scale’ Scam

The Liverpool Echo website reports that an office manager at a tech company in Warrington stole £228,000-worth of postage stamps and printer cartridges, in what was described as an ‘industrial scale’ scam.

Karen Belton used her employer’s business accounts to over-order huge quantities of both items, before selling them on eBay.

NHS Fraudster To Pay Back Cash

According to the Ely Standard website, a fraudster who swindled almost £350,000 out of the NHS has been ordered to pay back the majority of his ill-gotten gains.

Phillip Hufton was ordered under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) to pay back a total sum of £294,747 or face another three years in prison.

Fake Clothes Gang’s £1m Tax Fraud

Four family members, who were convicted of selling counterfeit clothes, have been sentenced for a £1 million tax fraud after an HMRC investigation.

After their conviction, Yasir, Qaisar and Amar Choudry and Mudasar Alishan were also discovered to have failed to declare any earnings.
