The favourite lies were about educational backgrounds, then work experience fibs, skillset exaggerations, followed by false references and even lying about which languages are spoken.

Worker Faked Robbery To Cover Theft

The Boston Standard reports that a man who owed money to loan sharks stole more than £3,000 from his employer and faked a robbery to cover what he had done.

Steve Beeson, who ran New Horizon Amusements, claimed that the shop had been robbed of £3,100 and acid had been thrown in his face as he opened up.

London Teacher Lied About Degree

Mail Online reports that a teacher at a top London girls school has been given a lifetime ban from the classroom after lying on his CV.

Simon Dodd told school leaders at Francis Holland School in Sloane Square that he had got a 2:1 degree, but he had actually only received a 2:2 and had faked a degree document.

Thieves operating in Wakefield have been warned they will be caught as police launch a new shoplifting drive, according to the Wakefield Express.

The Wakefield Central Neighbourhood Policing Team is taking a zero-tolerance approach to shop thefts in the city centre, warning offenders, ‘lift it – and we’ll lift you’.

The BBC News website reports that a business analyst has been jailed for stealing more than £700,000 from his employer, Oxford Bus Company.

As one of the staff responsible for recording money on to a computer system once it had been counted, Colin Smart took the sum between May 2010 and March 2017.

Shoplifters Stole During Their Trial

As reported in the Liverpool Echo, a pair of brazen shoplifters left court while their trial was on a lunch break – to go on another thieving spree at shops nearby.

Robert Smith and Irene Jones even brought the goods they’d stolen from a nearby Iceland store and a pet shop with them back to the court.
