£50k Shoplifted From Maidstone

Kent Online reports that more than £50,000 of goods were stolen from shops in Maidstone town centre over two years.

Between December 2013 and November 2015, items worth £55,299.39 were shoplifted from some of the town’s main shopping areas, with over a third taken from just one shopping mall.

Cook Stole School Dinner Money

Wales Online reports that a school cook stole nearly £6,000 of pupils’ dinner money to pay off her debts.

Joanne Helsby had debts of nearly £30,000 and “pocketed” the cash pupils paid for school meals instead of paying it into the bank account of her employer, catering company Chartwells.

A fraudster from Worksop told a court he had served with the army and was forced to leave for health reasons.

But neither he, nor his defence team, were able to provide any proof of his army career, or any acceptable evidence of his problems, according to the Worksop Guardian.

Greggs Worker Stole Over £10k

Website Your Local Guardian reports that a man who stole more than £10,000 from Greggs has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Ivan Manojlovic pleaded guilty to stealing £10,550 while working at the Cobham Services branch of the pastry chain in September 2014.

Postman Put Stolen Goods On eBay

A crooked postman stole computer and video games that he was supposed to deliver to addresses in Inverclyde and then sold them on eBay.

Suspicious bosses caught the thief after setting up a surveillance operation complete with ‘test packages’, a court was told.
