As reported on The Mirror website, branches of budget supermarket Aldi have been removing steaks from their shelves, in a bid to stem the increasing number of meat thefts.

Signs have been seen telling customers that steaks were only “available by request”, and staff had to go to a storeroom to collect the desired packs.

As reported on the Vice.com website, security guards at large security firms in the UK are turning a blind eye to people who steal food, during the cost of living crisis.

One guard is quoted as saying, “Put it this way, I won’t be paying attention to anyone stealing things to eat or drink. Everyone’s got to live.”

High Tech Thieves Stole Spirits Worth £50k

According to the Exmouth Journal a high-tech shoplifting gang stole almost £50,000 worth of expensive bottles of spirits from supermarkets in Devon and Cornwall over a five-month period.

Romanians Marian Stoica and Robert Matei – both jailed for two years – targeted stores in towns across the two counties, using special tools to remove security tags.

Football Coach Stole Golf Kit

The Kent Online website reports that a trusted football coach stole expensive golf clubs and other equipment from his employer which he later sold on eBay.

Customer Services Manager, Alexander Foy, took the items from Medway Golf Centre in Headcorn and even posted them using the firm’s shipping account.

Worker Stole £105k In Six Weeks

According to the Chronicle Live website, a trusted worker stole designer clothing and trainers worth more than £100,000 in just over six weeks.

Wakas Hussain was employed by the END. warehouse, picking and packing online orders, when he began stealing, and claimed he had no intention to sell the goods he took.

‘Model Employee’ Stole £3k

The Powys County Times website reports that a model employee betrayed his employer’s trust by stealing cash and goods worth £3,604.

Ryan Fage was highly thought of, and was described by his employer as a polite young man with a good attitude who never missed a shift at the Pantry Stores.
