Cinema Boss Stole Over €200K

According to The Irish Sun website, the general manager of a Dublin cinema stole over €200,000 from his employer.

John Connolly told police that he thought he could take the money and put it back, whilst a court heard that at one stage he was one number away from winning €250,000 on the Lotto.

Hotel Manager Stole Over £107k

According to the News & Star website, a hotel manager stole more than £107,000 from his employer, through theft and falsifying cash sheets.

Stewart McIntosh, committed the thefts and false accounting while working as a manger at The Graham Arms Hotel, and having day-to-day responsibility for the daily takings.

The BBC News website reports that a Londonderry company nearly collapsed after a former office manager spent £590,000 on online gambling, using corporate credit cards.

On one occasion, Tracey Curran gambled – and lost – £399,000 in winnings in just two days, a court was told.

Bookies Worker Took £1k To Pay ‘Nasty People’

The Teesside Live website reports that a ketamine-using customer service manager at Coral bookmakers took £1,000 from his employer’s safe to pay off a debt to ‘nasty people’.

Terry O’Neill was a “trusted employee” but stole the money when a customer won £112 from a roulette machine and came to the counter to collect the winnings.

Thieves Hid Loot In Underwear

The York Press website reports that a four member shoplifting gang had expandable knickers to hold their stolen wares and avoid anti-theft devices.

One member of the gang, currently on the run – Anne-Marie Raducanu – hid so many clothes in her underwear, police initially thought she was pregnant.

Shoplifting On Rise In N.Ireland

The BBC News website reports that shoplifting is on the rise across Northern Ireland, including a 12% increase in Belfast.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said it believed there was a link between increasing retail crime and a rise in the use of illegal drugs.
