Shop Removes Meat From Shelves

A branch of the Co-op has removed high value cuts of meat from it shelves to deter shoplifters from stealing the merchandise, according to Wales Online.

The store in the centre of Penarth has removed joints and steaks from its displays and customers now have to ask staff members for them specifically.

Council Employee Stole Over £1m

BBC News reports that a former Dundee City Council IT officer who stole more than £1m from the authority has been jailed for five years and four months.

Mark Conway exploited a loophole in the council’s computer systems, stealing the money over almost seven years, after running up debts on gambling websites.

Woman Stole As ‘Crutch’ For Anxiety

The Belfast Telegraph reports that a woman claimed she used shoplifting as a “crutch” because she was anxious over a £20,000 credit card debt.

Julie Adair mounted a mammoth thieving spree and stole an “eye-watering” amount of goods, worth “thousands”, and pleaded guilty to 16 charges of shoplifting.

CV Faker Has Jail Term Cut

The News & Star reports that a convicted fraudster who concocted a false CV to get a high-paid job has had his jail term slashed.

James Alexander Hayden Cox, also submitted faked references to land a £65,000-a-year role at Britain’s Energy Coast and forged a signature to steal more than £40,000 of the company’s cash.

Croupier Stuffed £50 Notes Into Sock

According to the Evening Standard, the daughter of a retired British Army general was caught stuffing £50 notes into her sock whilst working as a casino croupier.

Sarah Clarke used sleight of hand to grab the cash while counting up at the end of her shift at the Sportsman Casino in Marylebone.

Thief Stole 100 Cans Of Red Bull

The Burton Mail reports that a thief managed to steal more than 100 cans of Red Bull over the course of two months, and all from the same shop.

Miroslav Vagai admitted five counts of shoplifting the popular energy drink from a Sainsbury’s store in Derby.
