Charity Worker’s £1.5m Gift Aid Fraud

The Civil Society website reports that a Save the Children employee and two others have been found guilty of gift aid fraud that totalled £1.5m.

Kwabena Duodu, a former finance business partner for the charity conspired with two pastors of London churches to falsely claim gift aid.

As reported on the Express website, Bath – one of the UK’s most affluent cities – is experiencing a huge surge in shoplifting.

Panto Dame Stole £75k

The Mirror website reports that a founding member of a highly successful Paisley theatre stole £75,000 from an arts charity which helped James McAvoy kickstart his career.

Panto dame David McCann stole the cash whilst serving as the director and chief executive of PACE Theatre.

Thieves Stole £120k ‘To Order’

According to the Mail Online website, a group of shoplifters dubbed the ‘Morrisons Four’ by police, stole £120,000 of goods from British supermarkets.

They were ordered to steal from more than 50 branches of Morrisons by gangs from Romania, who then resold the goods through a wholesaler and car boot sales.

Police Identify 20 Shoplifting Gangs

According to the Mail Online website a national police unit set up to tackle the scourge of shoplifting in the UK has identified more than 20 gangs and 200 criminals fuelling the epidemic.

Operation Opal has also identified 61 vehicles the gangs use to move shoplifters and goods around the country.

‘Fake’ Security Guard Stole Cash

The BBC News website reports that a career criminal lied to get a job as a hospital security guard, before stealing from his employer.

Daniel Carter used a fake security licence to get work at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and stole £1,425 from the hospital.
