According to the Express & Star, shoplifters are striking twice every day in Walsall town centre, with a councillor worrying the problem is putting struggling businesses under even more pressure.

Between July 2016 and June this year there were 722 reported incidents in the St. Matthews policing area – 60 a month on average.

Tesco Manager Stole Electricals

According to the Rotherham Avdvertiser, a supermarket manager stole nearly £7,000 from his company by placing fake electrical orders and then sold the items illegally on eBay.

Martin Copley – who had worked for Tesco for 15 years – ordered nine electrical items including tablets and mobile phones to collect at his store and then requested a refund online.

Marine Stole Musical Instruments

As reported in The Telegraph, a Royal Marines musician stole £19,000 worth of instruments from his military band and sold them on eBay after he fell heavily into debt.

Adrian Higginson started to steal instruments in March 2015 and took eight saxophones, two clarinets, a cornet, a horn and a Focusrite amplifier, advertising them online under his own name.

Shop Removes Meat From Shelves

A branch of the Co-op has removed high value cuts of meat from it shelves to deter shoplifters from stealing the merchandise, according to Wales Online.

The store in the centre of Penarth has removed joints and steaks from its displays and customers now have to ask staff members for them specifically.
