The Liverpool Echo website reports that an employee at a solicitors’ firm stole nearly £1million to give to a man who didn’t exist.

Organised Shoplifting Increasing

As reported on the BBC News website, Waitrose has reported a rise in shoplifting in its stores across the UK, blaming steal-to-order gangs and anti-social behaviour for the surge in cases.

Conservative MP James Sunderland said, “Gangs appear to be operating with impunity across the South East – not just at Waitrose but all supermarkets.”

£180k Fraud Uncovered By B&Q Bill

As reported on the Daily Mail website, a bookkeeper who stole more than £180,000 from her employer was found out over a £37 shopping trip at B&Q.

Tracy Ellis used 139 separate transactions to steal the huge sum of money over a period of more than five years, and lived a ‘fantasy life’ on the proceeds of her fraud.

Fake Goods Seizure Worth £870m

As reported on the Express website, a recent seizure of counterfeit goods by Greater Manchester police has been estimated to have a street value of £870million.

The haul was so vast it took more than 100 officers and multiple agencies 14 days to work through 580 tonnes of gear stashed away in 208 shipping containers.

Company Directors Stole £4m

As reported on the Essex Live website, two company directors stole nearly £4m from a Local Enterprise Agency, to fund an extravagant and luxury lifestyle.

Graeme Loveland and Dennis Wakeling sold company assets worth £3.59m and transferred the millions into various business accounts of their own.
