Support Worker Banned For CV Lies

The Press & Journal website reports that a would-be support worker has been banned after her web of lies was uncovered to try and land a job working with children.

Lisa McDonald attempted to secure a job with national charity Action for Children with a fake reference, a forged signature and manufactured qualification certificates.

Post Office Manager Stole £10,000

The Metro website reports that a post office manager stole thousands from customers to bankroll her £200-a-day cocaine habit.

Victoria Rogers used the Post Office’s computer systems to reverse bill payments and divert the money to herself, pocketing a total amount of around £10,000.

‘Operation Hamper’ Halved Shoplifting

As reported on the Spire FM website, a police initiative called Operation Hamper saw incidents of shoplifting in Salisbury halve over the 2019 festive period.

Officers became more being visible throughout the day around the city and made better use of the ShopWatch and PubWatch radio systems, linking the city CCTV and police to shops and licensed premises.

Morrisons Worker Stole £1,500

As reported on the Evening Express website, a checkout worker stole £1,500 from her employer and was only found out when bosses ordered an audit.

Jessica McKay – employed by Morrisons – was seen on CCTV footage processing transactions when there no customers present.

Company Almost Folded After Fraud

The BBC News website reports that a Londonderry company nearly collapsed after a former office manager spent £590,000 on online gambling, using corporate credit cards.

On one occasion, Tracey Curran gambled – and lost – £399,000 in winnings in just two days, a court was told.

Website Sold Fake Scottish Degrees

Scotland’s The National website reports that its own journalists uncovered a website that offered to sell fake degrees from The University of West Scotland [UWS].

A university spokesperson said: “We take this matter extremely seriously and we know other higher education institutions are facing the same issue.”
