£125k Fraud Put 25 Jobs At Risk

The Sentinel reports that fraudster Andrew Salt ripped off his employer to the tune of £142,000 – by stealing car parts and flogging them on eBay.

Salt placed orders for non-existent customers and when the car parts were delivered, he would create a return note, but the goods were never sent back.

Worker Faked Robbery To Cover Theft

The Boston Standard reports that a man who owed money to loan sharks stole more than £3,000 from his employer and faked a robbery to cover what he had done.

Steve Beeson, who ran New Horizon Amusements, claimed that the shop had been robbed of £3,100 and acid had been thrown in his face as he opened up.

The BBC News website reports that a business analyst has been jailed for stealing more than £700,000 from his employer, Oxford Bus Company.

As one of the staff responsible for recording money on to a computer system once it had been counted, Colin Smart took the sum between May 2010 and March 2017.

According to the Real Business website, invoice fraud is on the rise, as technology brings with it new opportunities for fraudsters as well as for legitimate businesses.

Recent research found that UK SMEs are losing more than £9bn through invoice fraud every year, amounting to £1,658 per SME.
