An article on OnRec – The Online Recruitment Resource – claims that 38% of UK employers still don’t check whether their potential staff have the ‘right to work’ in the UK, according to a new study, which also claims that only 58% of organisations conduct any background checks on new hires.

Lawyer Lied About Getting 2:1 Degree

Metro reported that a lawyer has been suspended from her job for 18 months after lying about getting a 2:1 at university.

Anna Goodwin actually got a 2:2 in her law degree at University of the West of England in 2006, but fudged the grade in her application to the British Armed Forces for a ‘legal advisor’ role.

Nurse Forged Qualifications Letter

According to the Manchester Evening News, a nurse who forged a letter in a bid to convince her employers she held an anaesthetics qualification she did not have has been struck off.

Lynne Margaret Robinson admitted that she ‘panicked’ and forged the letter because she was worried that she would lose her job.

An investigation by The Sun has exposed a college which has been handing fake qualifications – £1,000 for a full diploma – to bogus students who can use them to scam university places and milk thousands in grants or get jobs in the NHS.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, a serial liar and convicted child sex offender applied for restaurant jobs using a false CV, attempting to pass himself off as a top chef, whilst failing to reveal any previous convictions.
