According to the BBC News website, a Fermanagh police officer has gone on trial charged with shoplifting.

Linda Totten has been charged with theft of £156.81 of goods from an Asda store on Christmas Eve 2013, and items of an unknown value four days earlier.

The Sun reports that changes to the way victims’ reports of a crime are assessed are expected to see 150,000 fewer offences being investigated each year.

New guidelines include a directive that crimes involving a loss of under £50 should not be investigated unless there is an identified suspect.
