Ex-Footballer Jailed For Shoplifting

The Lancashire Evening Post reports that an ex-professional footballer went on a £5,000 shoplifting spree to pay off his partner’s cocaine debt.

Kevin Magee – a team-mate of David Beckham in the ’90s – was jailed for six months after committing another five thefts from supermarkets on three separate dates.

Shoplifting Up 67% In St Albans

As reported in The Herts Advertiser, new statistics revealed by Hertforshire Police show that shoplifting is 67% up in comparison to the previous year.

Since April 1 2016 there have been 368 instances of shoplifting – with meat, alcohol and clothes making up most of the items stolen in the district.

Stolen Electronics Sold On eBay

According to the Eastern Daily Press, a Halfords employee stole over £3,500-worth of electronics in less than a month to help finance family debts.

Ryan Muir stole items- including sat navs – whilst working at Halfords in Thetford and sold them on eBay, between December 20, 2015 and January 5, 2016.

The Daily Gazette reports that an employee stole more than £112,000 from her bosses to pay her debts and fund a lavish lifestyle.

Gail Perry syphoned off a total of £112,227.35 from her employer – Exceptional Ideas – over a four year period.

M&S Manager Stole £250k

As reported on Mail Online, the manager of a Marks & Spencer store in Cambridge stole over £250,000 from his employer to feed his gambling habit.

A court was told that Martin Trenor was employed as a manager for the M&S Simply Food at Cambridge railway station and also had responsibilities for two other outlets.
