Soldier Stole Military Kit On eBay

The Mail Online website reports that a British Army soldier has been jailed for stealing almost £150,000 worth of equipment and selling it on eBay.

Tarj Sevier stole items – deemed ‘attractive’ to terrorists and criminals – such as night vision goggles, helmets, armour and bulletproof plates.

The Range Workers Made 74 Thefts

The BBC News website reports that two former employees of The Range embarked on a nine-month stealing spree from the Salisbury branch of the store.

Liam Snook and Sarah Brooks shared lifts together to and from work, and stole an estimated £8,000 of goods during 74 separate thefts.

Fakes Seized In Liverpool

As reported on the Liverpool Express website, a man has been arrested and suspected counterfeit clothing worth £80,000 was seized during a raid on a shop in Liverpool city centre.

It’s suspected that the items, branded with Adidas, Nike and The North Face logos, were fakes and being sold as legitimate products.

Thief’s Bulk Shoplifting Spree

The Surrey Police website reports that a man has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to a seven-month bulk shoplifting spree across the country.

John Ward targeted Boots, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Co-op stores across Surrey, Thames Valley, Kent, London, Cleveland, Cheshire and Durham.

Accountant’s £1.7million Tax Fraud

The HMRC website gives details of an accountant who abused his position to orchestrate a £1.7 million tax fraud – spending the stolen cash on lavish holidays and cars.

Kenneth Scott – jailed for four years – charged clients VAT but failed to pay it to HM Revenue and Customs.

Co-op’s £80m Shoplifting Hit

According to the This Is Money website, the Co-op Group suffered £80 million in losses from shoplifting across its food business in 2024.

The group, which trades from over 2,300 food stores across Britain, has been one of the worst hit retailers with a marked increase in thefts in recent years.
