Fake Goods Seized On Oxford Street

The Evening Standard website reports that the Metropolitan Police have seized a large number of fake designer goods following a raid on a shop in London’s Oxford Street.

Goods seized included counterfeit hoodies with unofficial trade marks and mobile phone covers with trade marks such as Louis Vuitton and Nike.

£1.5m Counterfeit Goods Seized

The Birmingham Mail website reports that Trading Standards officers uncovered a huge £1.5million haul of fake clothes and shoes following a probe into gangsters in Walsall.

In all, around 7,500 items were seized as part of ‘Operation Flash’, a national project probing the use of self-storage units to hide counterfeit products.

‘Fakes’ Retailer Fined £4k

According to the Wales247 website, a town centre retailer in Merthyr Tydfil has been fined £4,000 for selling fake designer label clothes.

Hardial Singh, Company Director of Pure Image, pleaded guilty to four charges under the Trademarks Act 1994 relating to the sale and possession for sale of counterfeit items.

Microscope Needed to Spot Counterfeits

According to Mail Online, a Chinese-run website is selling counterfeit designer goods so close to the real thing that only a microscope could reveal they were fakes.

High-quality copies of clothes, bags and shoes from luxury labels including Chanel and Hermes are being sold for less than one per cent of the genuine products’ retail prices.

According to the Cheshire Standard website, an online trader avoided jail despite admitting to selling thousands of fake Apple products.

Andrew Peter Twigg set up a company to sell spare parts and accessories for Apple iPhones and iPads via an eBay store and his own company website.

£285k Fine For Fake Goods Trader

The Cornwall Live website reports that a Newquay man narrowly avoided a jail sentence but has received a fine of £285,000 for selling counterfeit goods.

Daniel Pettit allowed customers to order products to be printed with images or designs relating to brands including Fortnite, Call of Duty and North Face.
