Claims Assessor Stole £68k

As reported on the City Of London Police website, a pet insurance claims assessor stole £67,499.88 from his employer through bogus claims and then fled to the US to avoid prosecution.

Rasheed Talabi created fictitious customers and policies and submitted fraudulent claims, but fled the country whilst on release under investigation.

Jail For £1,000 Clothing Theft

The Chester Standard website reports that two men who stole £1,000 worth of clothing from a Cheshire Oaks store have been jailed.

Alexandru and Valentin Lupascu were sentenced to eight and six weeks’ detention respectively, having admitted stealing the clothes from a Calvin Klein store.

BT Engineer Stole Cable For Scrap

According to the Wales Online website, an engineer working for BT stole £20,000 of copper cables and batteries which he then sold to a scrap merchant.

Robert Warne carried out the thefts over a 14-month period and sold the items he acquired from exchanges throughout south Wales.

‘Tourist’ Thief Targeted Booze In Costco

As reported on the Manchester Evening News website, a thief caught trying to steal 13 bottles of wine and champagne has been branded a ‘tourist shoplifter’ by a judge.

Marius Gheorgh, from Romania, and an accomplice attempted to shoplift £500-worth of champagne from a Costco store in Trafford Park.

Fraudsters Must Repay £40k

According to the Warrington Guardian website, a couple who defrauded a soft furnishing company they were working for out of £70,000 have been ordered to repay around £40,000.

Carl Hestford and Fiona Kerr stole the money by siphoning company cash to a false PayPal account, but initially denied the fraud.

Manager Must Repay Stolen £1,200

The East Anglian Daily Times website reports that a former restaurant manager who stole £1,200 via the business’s card machine has been ordered to pay back the money.

Gheorghe Feraru had access to the supervisor’s code, was able to process refunds unchecked and made ten refunds to his own account.
